Under Maharashtra law, registering this agreement with the Sub-Registrar is mandatory for it to be legally valid and enforceable.
Any property owner (licensor) letting out residential or commercial premises in Maharashtra to a licensee (tenant) is legally required to register the Leave & License Agreement under Section 55 of the Maharashtra Rent Control Act, 1999.
